Dr Jennifer Snaith, Sydney Endocrinologist

Dr Jennifer Snaith is a Staff Specialist Endocrinologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, and a clinician academic at the University of New South Wales and Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.

Dr Snaith competed her medical degree with honours at the University of Sydney, then her Basic Physician’s and Endocrinology speciality training at Westmead Hospital. During this time, she was awarded the Westmead Association Advanced Trainee of the Year Award, and the Tracey Robinson Registrar Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr Snaith enjoys teaching medical students as a Lecturer and supervises University of New South Wales PhD scholars.

Dr Snaith has a special interest in the treatment of people with type 1 diabetes. Her PhD project was on the topic of insulin resistance and metformin in type 1 diabetes. She co-founded the Australian Collaborative Towards Adjunctive Therapies in Type 1 Diabetes (ACT-T1D) Research Group. She conducts clinical trials testing the effects of non-insulin therapies on metabolic health in type 1 diabetes. She has published work in peer-reviewed journals and presents at national and international scientific conferences on her research work. Dr Snaith’s research has received support from Breakthrough T1D and Diabetes Australia.

Dr Snaith maintains a broad interest in all aspects of Endocrinology and is experienced in managing Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, bone and Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome PCOS. Dr Snaith committed to providing her patients excellence in care.

Specialist areas of care include (but are not limited to):

  • Type 1 diabetes – comprehensive management, insulin resistance in type 1 diabetes, advanced therapies, and participation in clinical research trials

  • Diabetes management – type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, prevention and management of diabetes-related complications

  • General endocrinology – pituitary disorders, adrenal disorders, metabolic health

  • Thyroid disorders – hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, thyroid nodules

  • Bone and mineral disorders – osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease

  • Women’s endocrine health – polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
